| Here is a little info about me. I'm from Germany where I learned to groom dogs from my childhood on. My father raised German Shepherds for decades and trained them either to service dogs for blind people or as guard dogs for Custom and Military. He was very successful in what he was doing. So I got always the chance to groom (brush & wash) some of those dogs and so I learned to handle big dogs. Later on in my life I bred and showed Great Danes for over 28 years. Many Champions and one World Champion was coming out of my kennel "vom King - Charles", today very known in the USA when you start looking for an English Springer Spaniel. I breed only the European type of Springers. In my time when I had all the Great Danes (18) I met a very nice women that was breeding English Cocker Spaniels. From her I learned to groom perfect all Spaniels and I liked it so much that I was going to a Grooming Academy to learn to groom all breeds from the scratch. Very helpful was my engagement to work in Dog Shows as an international judge for all breeds. So I learned how had to look a haircut for shows. In Germany if you want to open a grooming shop you have to learn this profession for 2 years, means with practice in some grooming shop and undergoing training in the school, that includes all common paperwork like bookkeeping and how to run your own business. You need a licence, certification and insurance, period! This is not the case in the US right now, anybody that can hold scissors can call them self "Groomer". This should be changed. I'm specialize in "Too much shedding? I can help Long flowing coats Cute mixed breed styling. All pure bred dogs will be groomed to look like the breed they are shown. I groom all pure bred dogs to the official AKC/FCI breed standards. |
